Although dyslexia is frequently seen as a barrier to learning and considered to be a ‘learning difficulty’ there is much evidence that a dyslexic mind can bring advantages that enhance abilities such as creativity and problem solving.

This blog post discusses some of the dyslexic minds whose work has had a lasting contribution to the world. These people were visionaries who not only were able to think outside of the box, but they were also able to revolutionise their field of expertise in a way that gave birth to ideas that have had a lasting impact on the world we live.

These innovative thinkers have contributed in many different fields. From inventors and scientists to politicians and journalists. Writers, filmmakers and actors. Athletes, artists, designers and musicians. All of the people discussed below have not only overcome the challenges and adversity that dyslexia had on their lives, but adapted and utilised their skills to become famous, successful leaders.

In addition, many other people with dyslexia who are currently famous include Kiera Knightly, Whoppi Goldburg, Robbie Williams, Prince Harry, Tom Cruise, Orlando Bloom, Jamie Oliver, Cher amongst many others.

Dyslexia is a specific learning difficulty that frequently co-occurs with other difficulties such as ADHD and dyspraxia. Famous people with these difficulties include: David Radcliffe who has dyspraxia, and Justin Timberlake, Serena Williams, Michael Phelps and Justin Bieber all have ADHD.
